Cowgirl Spy, 2022

Originally printed as a 4"x5.5" zine, Cowgirl Spy is an in-depth interrogation of the representation of gender roles within American cinema, and how those archetypes manifest in queer identities. Two female archetypes found in classic cinema, written from a phallocentric perspective have influenced how I perceive gender presentation as a queer woman. This piece addresses the absurdity of male validation, in an attempt to deconstruct the social conditioning caused by poorly written female characters in film.
